About this tool
This tool extracts the text from each document, using pdf.js for PDFs and mammoth.js for Word .docx files, both bundled locally, then runs the same word-level Myers diff as our text tool. It is made for reviewing contract redlines, policy revisions, proposals and reports where you need to see what wording actually changed between two versions. Because comparison is on extracted text, formatting, images and exact layout are not compared, only the words. You can also paste text directly, or edit the extracted text before comparing. Nothing is uploaded; extraction and diffing happen locally in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does it compare formatting, or just the words?
Just the words. Text is extracted from the PDF/DOCX and compared line and word level. Fonts, colours, images and precise layout are not part of the comparison.
Will scanned PDFs work?
Only if the PDF contains real (selectable) text. Image-only scans have no extractable text, run them through OCR first.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. pdf.js and mammoth.js run in your browser, so confidential contracts and reports never leave your machine.
